John Kemp, as well as being a successful wedding photographer, has many years experience creating engaging photography for schools, companies, and industrial enterprises. John was planning a big marketing push for Kemp Commercial Photography (the arm of his business that focuses on the corporate and schools sectors), and before he embarked on it, he asked us to create a new brand identity and some marketing materials.
The brand identity we developed is intended to portray Kemp Commercial Photography as professional and reliable, whilst also being modern and not too dull or ordinary. We eschewed using common photographic iconography, such as cameras or photographic film, but still wanted to make reference to the craft in some way. The design we arrived at draws inspiration from symbols commonly found in camera viewfinders — crosshairs and brackets — and the dark teal-blue has a corporate feel without being too obvious.
Along with the new branding we designed an A5 flyer that can be used as a large postcard for marketing purposes, and allows for easy re-configuring of images to target different industry sectors. The version displayed above will be used to market to schools.
Finally, we tailored a premium WordPress theme to display John’s photography (and specifically his panoramic images) effectively, and work with the new brand identity.
